Paradisus by Meliá Nusa Dua: Jet Skis, S'mores & the Best Breakfast in Bali

A jet ski in the pool, s'mores on the beach every sunset, a WhatsApp concierge that's 10/10 for neurodiverse families — and the best breakfast we've ever had in Bali.

We paid AUD $1,500 for 2 rooms over 2 nights at Paradisus by Meliá Nusa Dua, Bali. The kids rated it 7–9/10. If the beds had been comfortable, this could have been one of our best stays ever. Here's the full honest breakdown — what was extraordinary, what to watch out for, and why the family concierge alone is worth the trip.

Sundowners at the beach bar. The vibe here is genuinely special.

First Impressions: Grand, Lush, and Instantly Relaxing

Paradisus by Meliá Nusa Dua is a proper resort. The grounds are immaculate — manicured tropical gardens, multiple pools, a long stretch of beach, and that unmistakable Nusa Dua polish. Check-in was smooth, the family concierge team reached out on WhatsApp before we even arrived, and the kids were already asking about the pool before we'd found our rooms. First impressions: 9/10.

Yes, there is a jet ski in the pool. The kids went on it approximately 47 times.

The Jet Ski in the Pool (Yes, Really)

We need to talk about the jet ski. It's a real, rideable jet ski — in the main pool. Our kids completely lost their minds. They queued, they rode, they went back and queued again. It's the kind of feature that sounds gimmicky but is genuinely brilliant for families. Paired with the waterpark (slides, lazy river, splash zones), the pool area alone could keep kids entertained for a full week.

The waterpark is world-class. The s'mores on the beach at sunset are the memory they'll keep forever.

S'mores on the Beach: The Highlight of the Entire Trip

Every evening at sunset, the resort sets up a beach bonfire for s'mores. Complimentary. Staff set it up without being asked. Kids gather around, roast marshmallows, and the whole thing has this magical, unhurried energy. Our kids talked about it every single day. It's the kind of thoughtful touch that separates a good resort from a great one. 10/10 for this experience alone.

The whole family. The whole beach. Every sunset. This is why we travel.

The Family Concierge: 10/10 — Especially for Neurodiverse Families

The Family Concierge at Paradisus is genuinely one of the best we've experienced anywhere in the world. They're available on WhatsApp from pre-arrival through to check-out. No front desk queues. No explaining yourself twice. You message, they respond, it's done. For neurodiverse families, this is transformative — the ability to communicate everything in advance, manage sensory needs quietly, and have a dedicated human who knows your family's preferences is extraordinary. We give this 10/10.

The Family Concierge lounge is a proper space — snacks, games, and a team who genuinely cares.

The Breakfast: The Best We've Had in Bali

The Spanish restaurant on site serves the family breakfast buffet, and it is extraordinary. We've eaten breakfast at a lot of Bali resorts — this is the best. The spread is enormous, the quality is exceptional, and the chocolate fountain is a non-negotiable stop for every child at the table. The family buffet dinner is equally good but expensive — we'd strongly recommend the all-inclusive option or watching for Luxury Escapes food deals, which regularly feature this property.

The chocolate fountain and the pizza station. The kids' two favourite things in Bali.

The Honest Bit: Rooms, Beds & Room Configuration

Here's where we need to be straight with you. We were in 2 rooms that connected only via the balcony — not an internal connecting door. For a family of 7, this is not ideal. We used the sofa beds, which were firm even with toppers, and the pillows were on the lumpy side. This was the only real downside of the stay, and it's the reason the kids' ratings topped out at 9 rather than 10. If you're booking, ask specifically about internal connecting rooms — they do exist in the resort, but you need to request them explicitly. The staff were amazing about everything else, so don't be afraid to ask.

Even the working lunch is beautiful here. The beach restaurant is a favourite.

The Verdict: Would We Return?

Yes. Absolutely yes. The family concierge alone makes this one of the most family-forward resorts in Bali. The jet ski in the pool, the s'mores, the waterpark, the breakfast — these are genuine highlights that our kids will talk about for years. We'd book the all-inclusive next time, request internal connecting rooms specifically, and bring our own pillows (seriously). At AUD $1,500 for 2 rooms over 2 nights, the value is strong for what you get. Kids rated it 7–9/10. We'd give it an 8.5/10 overall.
